OCA Outreach to Arkansas in ‘12
The Arkansas World Trade Center recently invited the Office of Commercial Affairs to hold our Eighth outreach project in their home state – ‘The Natural State’ – of Arkansas. The briefing (March 3-7, 2012) proved to be our best attended yet, drawing a diverse audience from Arkansas businesses, government officials, the University of Arkansas as well as the local Thai community.
This program focused on the booming Arkansas Northwest and allowed Arkansas business owners to learn about the current situation in Thailand’s many business sectors, be updated on the progress of recovery from last year’s flooding and provided a forum to discuss business opportunities directly with OCA’s officers – as well as with other fellow Arkansans already doing business in Thailand.
Minister (Commercial) Kessiri Siripakorn, the head of the delegation, had the opportunity to also briefly meet with Congressman Steve Womack (R-AR, 3rd district) to discuss mutual trade opportunities and the possibility of his visiting Thailand in the near future. Additionally, The Office of Commercial Affairs met with many Arkansas companies interested in doing business with Thailand, such as Wal-mart, Canvas Corporation, CCF Brands and TY International.
