เมื่อวันที่ 5 มกราคม 2566 อัครราชทูตฝ่ายการพาณิชย์ (นางสาวสุภาวดี แย้มกมล) ได้เข้าร่วมการหารือระหว่างเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงวอชิงตัน (นายธานี แสงรัตน์) และรองผู้แทนการค้าสหรัฐฯ (Ambassador Sarah Bianchi) เพื่อแนะนำตัวในโอกาสเข้ารับตำแหน่ง โดยมีเจ้าหน้าที่จากสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ และสำนักงานพาณิชย์ในต่างประเทศเข้าร่วมด้วย โดยทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือประเด็นต่างๆ ได้แก่ 1) ความเป็นไปได้ในการจัดการประชุมกรอบความตกลงการค้าและการลงทุนไทย-สหรัฐฯ (Trade and Investment Agreement Framework: TIFA) ในปี 2566 2) การผลักดันให้สหรัฐฯ พิจารณาถอดไทยออกจากบัญชี Watch List ในรายงานสถานะการคุ้มครองทรัพย์สินทางปัญญาของประเทศคู่ค้าตามกฎหมายการค้าสหรัฐฯ มาตรา 301 (Special 301 Report) และรายงานผลการทบทวนรายชื่อตลาดที่มีการละเมิดทรัพย์สินทางปัญญาสูงทั่วโลก (Notorious Markets) และ 3) การติดตามความคืบหน้าการต่ออายุโครงการการให้สิทธิพิเศษทางภาษีศุลกากร (GSP) ซึ่งหมดอายุไปตั้งแต่ 31 ธันวาคม 2563
ในโอกาสนี้ รองผู้แทนการค้าสหรัฐฯ ได้ขอบคุณไทยที่สนับสนุนการขับเคลื่อนกรอบความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจอินโด-แปซิฟิก (Indo-Pacific Economic Framework: IPEF) โดยยืนยันความพร้อมที่จะเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดการประชุม TIFA ในปีนี้ในช่วงเวลาที่ทั้งสองฝ่ายเห็นว่าเหมาะสม และพร้อมที่จะทำงานร่วมมือกับไทยในประเด็นต่าง ๆ โดยเฉพาะการขับเคลื่อนเรื่องนโยบาย Worker Centric Trade Policy ของรัฐบาลสหรัฐฯ
On January 5th,2023, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the United States accompanied by Miss Supawadee Yamgamol, Minister (Commercial Affairs), together with officials from the Royal Thai Embassy and the Office of Commercial Affairs, met with Ambassador Sarah Bianchi, Deputy United States Trade Representative (USTR).
Both sides discussed various issues including, the follow-up of Trade and the Investment Agreement Framework (TIFA) meeting in 2023, the request for support to remove Thailand from the Watch List countries under the Special 301 Report and the Notorious Market List, the follow-up on the renewal of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) programme which expired on 31 December 2020.
The Deputy USTR also extended her appreciation for Thailand’s support on the progress of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) and reiterated the readiness of the U.S. to host the TIFA meeting in 2023 at Thailand’s convenient timeframe. Moreover, Ambassador Bianchi emphasized that the U.S. is ready to work with Thailand on various issues, particularly on a worker centric trade policy which is one of the priorities of the U.S. government.
